what happens to kids health insurance benefits if I am injured at work and go on workers compensation benefit?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Question by Meiko J: what happens to kids health insurance benefits if I am injured at work and go on workers compensation benefit?
I just went on workers compensation and I have health insurance through my employer what happens to this if I can’t pay it

Answer by mbrcatz17
If you don’t pay for your health insurance – and your kids – both your coverages will be cancelled.

As soon as your employer terminates you, your health insurance cancels, unless you pay for it yourself, through cobra. Even though you’re on Workers Comp, that only covers the work related injury. It does NOT keep paying for your benefits.

Q&A: Why is getting kids health insurance a higher priority than getting adults covered?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Question by partlysunny: Why is getting kids health insurance a higher priority than getting adults covered?
I don’t understand this. It seems that getting kids health insurance in this country is more important than getting it for adults, when don’t adults need to go to the doctor more often? If adults can’t afford it, and therefore probably aren’t getting the health care that they need, how are they supposed to take care of their kids?? I guess it’s cheaper to get kids covered because adults generally are at a higher risk of having health problems, getting into serious accidents, etc. Why do kids really even need it? As an adult, I’ve have to go to the doctor more than when I was a kid. I recently had 3 wisdom teeth out, have a 4th one coming in, and I have to pay it all out of pocket because my small insurance policy won’t cover dental. I think it’s more important that adults get covered first.

I feel exactly the way you do. I don’t understand why there are so many programs out there for kids, but little to nothing for adults.

I’m still trying to pay off my hospital bills from last year and I was only hospitalized twice.
I’m 25 now and I’d hate to see how much I’m going to have to start paying once I’m older and have more issues.

What is the best health insurance for me?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Question by Curious&can’twait: What is the best health insurance for me?
I’m still under my parents med. insurance, but I know when I turn 19 they’re health insurance providers will say that I can’t legally be under my parents anymore.(I know this because they did the same thing to my older brother and sister. But my sister is still under it because she’s a full time student in college and my bro. is still under it cause he has a mental disability) I don’t know what I’ll do after that though. My parents said that even though I have a job of my own, if I find the best health insurance for me they’ll pay for it until I move out. I don’t have any true health problems only acne and acid reflux. Please give me an idea of a cheap but reliable health insurance plan that would best fit my needs. (Thanks)

First I would recommend going to college. You will be extended on your parent’s plan until you’re 22, and you’ll greatly increase your chances of landing a better job with equally better benefits once you graduate. Until then, since it sounds like you’re fairly healthy and have no kids, a PPO with any trusted insurance company should be fine. You can pick any doctor and pay around $ 20 for a copay. If you had children I would recommend an HMO because they have better benefits for the mothers and pay for almost all of the kid’s first shots etc.

Q&A: What is the best health insurance and life insurance policies to go with?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Question by toogood2u03: What is the best health insurance and life insurance policies to go with?
I am recently out of the military and need to purchase an individual health ins policy. However, I am not sure which ones are the best. I am a student, do they offer any good student policies? Also, is the SGLI to VGLI conversion a good change to make? If not, which is better term or whole life insurance policies?

Best answer:

Answer by Zarnev
You will not get a good answer concerning the health insurance here because companies and the plans within the companies vary by state. You’ll want to visit a local independent agent who knows the market in your area and can find the best plan for your situation. Do not try to do this on the internet unless you have the time it will take to compare nearly 1000 plans. The agent can figure the best plan in an hour or two and they don’t charge anything for the service.

The independent agent also can help with the life insurance. Generally speaking, the term policy is best for most people.

What’s the best health insurance company not tied to a single location?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Question by Gorham: What’s the best health insurance company not tied to a single location?
I’m a travelling sales person with multiple mailing addresses. What location in the United States has the best health insurance rates and best health care? I’m in my mid 30′s, non-smoker, healthy.

Best answer:

Answer by StephenWeinstein
You can have a thousand mailing addresses, but a health insurance company is only allowed to sell you a policy if your one permanent, legal residence is in a state where they have a license. The best company is whichever one has a license there, because you are not allowed to use a mailing address in a state other than your state of residence to obtain insurance from a company that is not licensed where your legal residence is. If you do manage to get a policy this way, then you have given them a perfect excuse to cancel your policy whenever they want, usually right after they receive a large claim, and before they pay it. (If a policy is rescinded due to fraud, the decision is retroactive, and you are not covered for the outstanding bills, and you must repay whatever claims have already been paid.)

Question by ĶΪŦŤŸ: What is the best health insurance for a college student?
My mother recently changed jobs so i lost my health insurance. I’ve never actually looked into insurance because it was always already there for me (which was stupid of me not to do). Which is the best insurance to have in terms of coverage and cost?
My school has blue cross blue shield… are they any good?
I live in South Florida by the way.

Best answer:

Answer by Insurance Pickle.com
School insurance is usually expensive and crappy (to drop an industry term). Find a broker to help you find a plan where you live. They’ll be able to go through your options.
